Event: Unlikely Conversations with Aastha Parivaar
Mumbai, you’re in for a treat! Following is a special invite from Aastha Parivaar to join their upcoming fundraising and awareness event at blueFROG. Aastha Parivaar is an advocacy organisation serving the needs of sex workers and their children across Mumbai and Thane. If you loved Badal ja!’s Small Steps #2: Creating Sex Positive Dialogue, this event is right up your alley. It will be an exciting opportunity to explore issues around gender and sexuality with larger group, and particularly in the context of Aastha Parviaar’s programs.
On Saturday, November 15, 2014 from 11 to 5 at blueFROG Mumbai, NGO Aastha Parivaar is hosting Unlikely Conversations an event that is part show, part conference and part brunch, all with the goal of bringing together diverse individuals and exchanging ideas. Through thought-provoking performances and dynamic panel discussions between sex workers, public figures, artists, and social workers, we will explore relevant questions related to the gender, sexuality and poverty issues that Aastha Parivaar’s programmes address.
The event will feature insights from male and female sex workers, actress Mona Ambegaonkar, comedian Aditi Mittal, representatives from Men Against Violence and Abuse, director Kaizaad Kotwal, excerpts from The Vagina Monologues, a screening of Purple Skies, a discussion curated by KASHISH Mumbai International Queer Film Festival with actress Avantika Akerkar, and more!
Donation passes are available at blueFROG and through Aastha Parivaar now. Passes are priced at Rs. 300 for the programme and Rs. 2,000 for the programme plus an unlimited brunch by blueFROG’s chef and wine sponsored by Myra Vineyards and All Things Nice. Proceeds will benefit Aastha Parivaar’s programmes for the education for the children of sex workers.
